First United Methodist Church Bethany

Sunday School - 10:45am

Sunday Worship Service - 9:30am

We follow in the footsteps of Jesus as we serve our community in many ways including our prayer shawl, Lunch Box, Grocery Box, Handymen, Prayer Team, Wednesday JAM ministries and Mary Martha Circle.

“Wings of Hope” Prayer Shawl Ministry

Our prayer shawl group meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m.  There is lively conversation as the ladies knit and crochet.  God has blessed our hands as over 300 shawls have been made since January, 2012.  Won’t you join us?

Lunch Box and Grocery Box Ministries

Our Summer Lunch Box Ministry prepared and delivered 6000 meals from May until August, 2012  five days a week.  Our Fall Lunch Box ministry served over 1600 meals from September through November.

Since December, we provide food boxes to families in our community two times a month.  There is no criteria to receive the food boxes, “no strings attached.”  Won’t you join us?

Handymen Ministry

Each Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. our Handymen meet to discuss their lists of things to do.  They offer their hands on services to the church, members and people in the community.  They fix all kinds of things and if the job is too large, they can help folks know who to call.  They also begin each meeting time with prayer.  They really do offer their hands for the work of Jesus in the world.  Won’t you join us?

Wednesday JAM (Jesus and Me)

The energy in the building is contagious on the second Wednesday of the month in our after school ministry, Wednesday, JAM, for kids in our community.  We study one Scripture story a month through music, storytelling, mission, arts and crafts and recreation. Through a variety of learning styles, kids make the connections of the Jesus stories with real life.  We meet the second Wednesday of the month from 3:30-5:00 p.m.  Do you know kids who would like to join us?

Prayer Team

Our prayer team meets on Tuesday mornings at 9:00 a.m.  We come together to offer our prayers to God for specific concerns and to pray for our members, our community and our world.  As we come together in prayer, God’s Spirit touches us in deep and profound ways.  We really do stand in the gap as God’s people as we pray together.  Won’t you join us?

Mary Martha Circle

Our Mary Martha Circle meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. for study, conversation and outreach.  They host birthdays parties at the care centers and provide fruit plates to home bound people in our community at Christmas.  They support the Harrison County Food Pantry and have semi-annual yards sales which provides funds for their outreach.
